Talos and Surface Pro 4

Talos
The character above is a new one that I have created called Talos.  He is a cummancer, where his power is to be able to shape his cum into anything that he wants.  In this instance he is drawing a sword using his cum.  He could use it for other things as well.  I am planning on using him in some upcoming drawings.  He does not have a backstory yet.

I had been looking for a viable digital sketchbook for a long time now.  I had gotten an iPad Air and a stylus for it in the hopes that it would be what I wanted, but I was always left lacking.  I don't think it was the stylus but the actual applications that were on the iPad that just did not want to do what I had planned.  After going to a few comic cons I noticed that quite a few artists were using Microsoft Surfaces Pros to do their drawings.  I got a few tips from the and I saw a possible solution to my digital sketchbook problem.

I waited for the Surface Pro 4 to be released before I went forward with anything.  I wanted to make sure that I had a tablet that had a better stylus then the Surface Pro 3.  In anticipation of getting the SP4, I also purchased Manga Studio 5 to use on it as it has sort of a tablet enabled mode that works well with the SP4.  I worked on the Talos drawing just using the SP4.  It took me a while to figure out what sort of tools I needed to use to get the result that I wanted.  I had been using Photoshop for the past 15 some odd years so jumping to a new application has been odd.  If anyone has any tips on how to do a few things in Manga Studio 5 I would be very thankful for any help.

-Select Similar - I have tried to use the Select Color Gamut, but it never seems to select any other colors on the layer.
-Add Noise Filter - I used the Add Noise filter in PS to add texture to some things, now I would like to do the same thing in MS5.
-Any other tips or tricks to use.
